Birbs on campus

Shortly after my first few encounters with birds, I’ve quickly grown obsessed with them and wanted to do more bird photography

This led to be bringing my camera to school on a daily basis, and I would always utilize lunchtimes to photograph birds. As a high schooler, there is always constant stress and it weighs you down over time. As I felt the happiness seep away from my life due to all the schoolwork, I realized that I needed a hobby that can alleviate this issue, which just so happens to be bird photography.

Not just bird photography, but photography in general makes me see the world in a difference perspective, I started noticing things I wouldn’t have noticed before and it truly opened my eyes

Caught this red-whiskered bulbul feeding on some flowers the other day after school, it would’ve been a great pic if it hadn’t been a little blurry

Before I know it, I was hooked onto the hobby. It also successfully balanced out the stress in my life, seeing my mental health improving

Eventually, birding has become an essential part of my life, and I can’t thank my school enough for maintaining such a beautiful atmosphere for the birds to live in

These warblers move extremely fast but I managed to grab some pictures

FYI: you can see this tree out from the IB building

Photography tip: if you want to capture a bird’s mouth being open clearly, turn up the shutter speed (unlike what I did here)

This guy was just above me, close encounter!

Feeling extremely grateful that I decided to get into bird photography and for that first oriental magpie-robin for inspiring me to go on

Some more pictures below, enjoy :)

New species spotted!! Light-vented bulbul from on the top of the IB building

Bet you’ve never truly looked at a sparrow huh, have you ever seen one feed?
